Web Registration

It’s that time again … class registration. I have a fair amount of work that needs to be done to make sure everything is ready from my end. A good chunk of that has been done already, but there is still some left to do.

Need to run off to a meeting for just this topic. Catch ya later.

Netflix

Well, that’s the end of my Netflix trial … now to return the last of the movies by next Sunday.

Dinner in Shreveport

Went to dinner with a group from school tonight (Sat.) in Shreveport. We headed over to the Horseshoe Casino/Hotel and had a blast eating at the buffet and doing a ’scavenger hunt’ in the hotel and surrounding area (only three of us were old enough for the casino proper). When I’m awake enough, I’ll throw some more details and a few pictures up.

Legolas Booting Problems

I think I may have found a clue as to my problems with Legolas and GRUB. I’ll give it a whirl when I get back to the apartment this evening.

Terrorism Alert in France

AP and UPI reported that the French Government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level fom “RUN” to “HIDE.” The only two higher levels in France are “SURRENDER” and “COLLABORATE”.

The raise was precipitated by the recent fire which destroyed France’s white flag factory, effectively disabling their military!

The Manchurian Candidate

I watched “The Manchurian Candidate” last night (thank you free trial from Netflix). IMDB currently has it weighing in at a 6.7/10.

The movie was decent. I think there were specific plot points they could have delayed, thus increasing the suspense, but overall it was well written and well acted. It isn’t on my list of “Must Watch” movies, but it was still worth mentioning here.

Troy

I also grabbed “Troy” from Netflix last week. This was another movie that I enjoyed. Great battle scenes, great story, and overall very enjoyable. IMDB currently has it at a 7.0/10, and that is probably about right.

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow

I rented “Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow” from Netflix this week. It only has a 6.5/10 on IMDB, but I thought it ranked a bit higher than that. The story wasn’t overly involved, but the effects and (funny) acting kept me watching it. Overall, very well done. Especially since I heard that it was filmed almost entirely in front of a green screen.
