External Hard Drive

I got the hard drive and enclosure last night. I started out by putting the HD in my machine (so I could partition it and create the filesystem). Once I have that accomplished, I threw the drive in the enclosure and plugged the power in (I need more outlets). I attached the USB cable (which appears to have the same plugs as my camera cable … so if I loose one …) and looked to see if my computer detected the drive. Sure enough, it assigned it to /dev/sdb. So I mounted it and started throwing junk on it.

The idea here was to be able to carry larger amounts of data than my measly 128MB USB stick can handle (We’re talking TV episodes here for my more dense readers). I can now report that it was mission accomplished.
